So seeing as I've become more active on LJ again as of late, I should probably type more on here...even if seeing posts from my 17/18 year self makes me cringe now at 21.
So what happened during my absence?
TL;DR: went to college, wasn't prepared to socialize at college due to my disability, flunked out of college, fell into a crippling depression, got medicated, went into to job training, went back to tech school.
The above happened in a span of about a year and half to two years. Ish. The details are a bit fuzzy.
So music is not longer the major love and focus of my career, though I still hold an affection for it. I've gone back to my science roots and am now working my way through a pharmacology tech program that's exhausting but rewarding.
I've also made my way into the kpop scene-shout out to everyone from Omona, by the way-and I made my first friend in a long time bonding over SHINee, fanfiction, and yaoi. And we're slowly but surely converting members of our class...
I'm gay as a goddamn maypole,
I've discovered I really love wine.
I still love manga and anime, though I'm working through Utena and Strawberry Panic right now.
And I'm hoping for Fire Emblem Awakening for Christmas.

It may still be a few years away from practical use, but scientists have created a real tractor beam, like the ones featured in the "Star Trek" TV series and movies.
Simply put, this technology utilizes a beam of light to attract objects, according to the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. In "Star Trek," tractor beams were often used to pull spaceships and other objects closer to the focal point of the light source attached to another ship.
Researchers at St. Andrews and the Institute of Scientific Instruments, or ISI, in the Czech Republic have figured out a way of generating an optical field that can reverse the radiation pressure of light.
German astronomer Johannes Kepler noticed in 1619 that comet tails point away from the sun, a radiation force that the St. Andrews and ISI team hoped to reverse.

"Star Trek Into Darkness" has a new bombshell, but don't expect Alice Eve's character to just be another notch on Captain Kirk's Federation-issued belt.
Access Hollywood's Scott "Movie" Mantz ("Star Trek" super fan) sat down with the actress at the preview junket for the highly anticipated sequel, where she spoke about playing Dr. Carol Marcus.

These are the things I know are true.
I've been content to let history pass me by.
With every minute a memory of you and I
We were friends longer than lovers
(Yet I love you, then and now)
Our pride blinded us, our duty distracted us
We wandered the galaxy, searching, seeking
for what we'd one day find on the sand.
(It is possible to kiss and cry all at once)
We saw each other
as two halves of imperfections
After endless seasons of night, morning, noon
In the blink of an eye, on that day in June
You-were swept away. You fell through the cracks.
and I-I did not look back.
I carried on
(We were most at home among the stars)

Edited to add my own thoughts (not part of the original reddit call for action): And if you do not feel like taking a total break and perhaps want just a trial separation or couple's counseling, then perhaps consider Black March Lite 2.0 = spend, but spend money on those content creators and independent retailers who came out against SOPA/PIPA. And tell them why you're buying their products in March. There are many of them.
And for those who favor the more targeted boycott, you can find info here. But no matter which, you can participate and you can tailor your level of participation. We have the tools, the will and the strength to take a stand.

Black March - Thursday March 1st 2012 to Saturday March 31st 2012
With the continuing campaigns for internet-censoring litigation such as SOPA and PIPA, and the closure of sites like Megaupload under allegations of 'piracy' and 'conspiracy' the time has come to take a stand against music, film, and media companies' lobbyists.
The only way is to hit them where it hurts.
Their profit margins.
March 2012 is the end of the First Quarter in economic reports world wide.
Do not buy a single record. Do not download a single song, legally or illegally. Do not go to see a single film in cinemas, or download a copy. Do not buy a DVD in the stores. Do not buy a videogame. Do not buy a single book or magazine.
Wait the four weeks to buy them in April: see a film later, etc... Holding out for just four weeks, maximum, will leave a gaping hole in media companies profits for the first quarter, an economic hit which will in turn be observed by governments world wide as stocks and shares will blip from a large enough loss of incomes. This action will give a statement of intent:
"We will not tolerate the Media Industries' lobbying for legislation that will censor the internet."
I've gone without buying non-school related things for a while now. This shouldn't be too hard....

Wikipedia Blackout: Urge Wikipedia To Protest Censorship
Quick request: Wikipedia is considering going dark to protest SOPA and PIPA, the Internet censorship bills.
It'd be huge news, jar rank-and-file Internet users out of complacency, and serve as a turning point in the effort to beat these bills.
Several sites are considering going dark next week -- Reddit's already pledged to do so, but to have the impact it'll take to kill SOPA and PIPA, we need much broader support. A blackout by Wikipedia could be what finally kills these bills.
Will sign you on at right to urge Wikipedia to go on strike to protest censorship? (You'll also generate an email to your lawmakers, with the language at right.)PETITION TO WIKIPEDIA: We encourage Wikipedia to "go dark" to proest the Internet censorship bills pending before Congress. Millions of Americans would take notice, and it could be what finally turns the corner in the fight against SOPA and PIPA.Please sign at right to urge Wikipedia to go dark, and to generate an anti-SOPA/PIPA letter to your lawmakers.

1. FRINGE OWNED THE FRIDAY NIGHT DEATH SLOT! We're not outta the woods yet, but things are looking promising. However I Do Not Know How I Feel about recent spoilers involving (Spoilers, highlight to read) Altvia being pregnant and Peter being the baby daddy. It seems too soap operaish for my taste, but I'm going to trust that the writers won't fuck it up.
2. In real life, school requires me to read the works of James Joyce for a ten page paper, and I'm actually enjoying it. The man is clearly a fanboy for stream of consciousness, but A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man is great book after you take 15 minutes to understand what to the hell he's saying. I'm terrified that Finnegan's Wake will break my brain pernamently, though.
3. I apparently can act. As, I got a straight 100 on the quarterly monolouge that everyone in class has to perform. I think it was in part because of the fact that I answered my character biography questions in character. Loved the play it was from though-little french piece called Ondine. Though now I have to choose a source for my next monolouge.....

Your result for The Which Star Trek Species Would You Be? Test...
The logical and loyal. Congrats, my favourite species!
Congrats, you're a Vulcan! You tend to be the more logical person. Whenever a difficult task comes up, you are the one with the answer. You analyse everything, and make sure you have the right answer before saying anything. You tend to be a more peaceful person, preferring not to act in violence. You are extremely loyal to your friends. However, many people tend to see you as emotionless. This is not true. You tend to hide your emotions from others, rather than let them show through. You are very good at giving advice and saving the humans when they make reckless mistakes.
Well-known Vulcans include: The icon of Trek, Spock; Sarek, fathe of Spock; Tuvok of Voyager; and T'Pol of Enterprise.

You have a very spicy personality but also comforting. You are energetic, invigorating, exciting, and maybe even a little crazy. Cinnamon and clove are two of the oldest spices known. In ancient times, they were highly prized and often valued more than gold. In the Bible, cinnamon is associated with the holy anointing oil, the bed of King Solomon, and the smell of the Lord.

The first thing I will admit is that the only thing I'd "seen" of Davros before this audio was "The Stolen Earth/Journey's End". Horrid of a fan as this makes me, I will admit that Davros the audio was a both a well written and spoken piece of work.
Lance Parkin has appealed to my politically interested with his allusions to corporate growth and resistance, as well as showing why Davros is-well, the way he is. By the portrayal of the character, I'm staring to wonder if he's seen The Silence of The Lambs or it's sequels, because Davros mainly reminded me of Hannibal-I'm not sure if that was the intended comparison though!
It's also interesting to hear the Doctor as being portrayed as the victimizing nut case-he has more of a mundane role in this audio, due to so many events going on in such a sort span of time. The sudden multiple character additions were confusing at best, and at times somewhat distracting, but parts are played well once I've been able to sit down and listen throughly.
Overall, not one of my favorites, but a good story-I' m sure the actors, producers and others know how fantastic they are by now, but I'll say it once more: they are fantastic. My one small complaint-Bernard Horsfall (Arnold Baynes) sounds like the sort of teacher whose classes I'd always want to sleep through. Deliberate or not, I do not know, but I was able to overlook it for the rest.
